Photography Elective

These are a few photos from my Digital Photography Elective, my part time job is decorating cards for a small card company called Wendy Jones-Blackett, so the past few weeks iv been photograhing the cards in the process from decorating to packaged up. They are all Macro photography and in the final book they will be squared of and full bleed of the page. iv tried not to manipulate them much on photoshop but as i got a new camera half way through it took me a while to get use to the different settings and some came out too dark or to bright but hopefully the difference in unnoticable now.

put a sock in it

i used last weeks Digital Photography session to take some photos of odd socks on feet, i got my sister to layer on some of the odd sock i had, her feet were very toasty, but they all turned out gorgeous, all the pictures are really fun, with the bright colours, and simple, with the white background and simple poses. I'm not sure how I'm going to use them just yet but they are really nice visual aids to what I'm looking for.

After the Crit session we had my group gave me the idea of a children's book, although children's book are very simply narrative and meant to be used in a educational purpose, I'm looking at babies and infants book which is more about the feel and look of them.
i cut up some odd socks and used them for this 'swatch' samply.
However i really want to somehow encorporate some typography in this somewhere as im really interested in it, and Mr Tom Cummings gave me the great idea of doing letter forms from sock shapes.

Digital Photography

These are just two of the photographs that i have taken in my digital photography elective, i was using a 70-200 zoom lence and using the studio lighting.
i was looking at depth of field, something that i though i understood but when i put it into practice found i didnt really know what i was doing, so after our session on Tusday about the SLR camera i used my elective session to run over these teniques.
The first image is using a small depth of field where i have focused on the forgroud objects, adn the second images is where i used a long depth of field where i focused the camera on the background objects.
